FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about preparing for, and registering for, a Samichlaus visit.

How should we prepare our children?

Talk about Samichlaus positively and avoid threats or announcements designed to frighten children. Tell the children in advance what to expect during the visit.

Should the child prepare something?

A poem, a song, a piece of music or a short performance is welcome, but never a requirement.

What information does Samichlaus need?

In the registration form, please tell us what the child is particularly good at and what still goes less well. This information is treated confidentially and used exclusively to prepare for and carry out the visit.

Who prepares the Chlaussäckli?

You put the Chlaussäckli (gift bags) together, label them with each child’s name and place them by the entrance. Presents are not customary and are best avoided.

Do we need to protect our floors?

Samichlaus and his Schmutzli are out and about a great deal during the season. Delicate floors can be protected in advance with a small rug or a suitable mat.

Is Samichlaus on time?

We do our best to arrive within the agreed time window — but there can still be deviations. We ask for your patience and understanding.

Which languages are available?

Swiss German, High German (Standard German) and English.

Is registering the same as a confirmed booking?

No. The visit is only bindingly reserved once the association has confirmed it in writing.

Can we use a paper form instead?

Yes. The online registration is preferred, since it can be submitted directly and required fields are checked automatically. Alternatively, the paper form is available at one of our pickup locations – see the Registration page for details. Please note: the paper form is currently only available in German.

What if we need to cancel at short notice?

Please let us know as early as possible by email at info@chlaus-zug.ch if you need to cancel or postpone.
